Kowloon Walled City

City Of

Light / Darkness

My original intention for this project was to be a communicator of popular culture. The Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong is often described as a "devil's cave on earth" by reports. The environment is dirty and poor, and crimes are commonplace. But in reality, it is also a refuge for many underclass people, so I would like to convey the duality of this cognition through the picture. I selected the police and criminals, which are symbols of good and evil in the traditional sense, hoping to reverse the initial impression through the contrast in behavior.

There is no text in the whole story. I hope that readers can discover the details of the picture and connect the story by themselves while reading, and at the same time break the stereotype and have their judgments of good and evil.
